After a good night's rest in our Air BnB in an 'up and coming' previous factory district, we rode the subway/train system into the heart of Vienna. For 40 euros you can get 8 daily rides, which includes hopping on and off any conveyance, in any direction over a 24 hour period of time, over any 8 day period of time.....What a DEAL!
We scooted all over the city, checking out tons of things. First stop was for a coffee and pastry.
Now the walking begins.
First stop was the Belvedere Castle
The inside houses a museum, which we didn't have time to visit, but the 'upper' and 'lower' gardens were lovely to stroll through.
I was looking forward to going for a ride of on an 1800's Ferris wheel,
but was disappointed that it was not running today......on the list for next week!
Today was so jam packed with things to do,
I will be writing it in 2 parts.
Coming up, 2 ornate cathedrals and an amazing dinner, with spectacular views, at a local winery, called a 'Heuriger'.....something totally different and unexpected.....here is a teaser...
