My love for the movie 'The Sound of Music' was my inspiration for a visit to Salzburg. I have watched the movie countless times over the years and was excited to see where it all took place.
The 2 1/2 hour train ride was the perfect way to travel....it was comfortable and fast, with train speeds of 199 kms an hour at times. Arriving just at lunch time, our fabulous guides suggested a traditional 'eat on the go' sausage on a bun...
...this was something totally unexpected.
We stopped at a place that was literally a 'hole' in the wall of a passage way, that only served a 'Bosna'
It was two thin sausages stuffed into a grilled bun with a curry sauce.
It certainly hit the spot!
The passage linked two pedestrian shopping streets, one on which housed Mozart's birthplace
At every turn was extraordinary art, whether statues or buildings .....it didn't matter where you walked, something caught your eye
We walked over a bridge across the Salzach River for drinks at a very famous building housing the Cafe Bazar, which opened in 1882.
Here is a bit of history on the building....
...and our view from the table!
More Salzburg coming up!
