The End!

One of the last things that we did, before leaving the Island, was to walk up to the top of Brada Head, located in Port Erin (which is at the south end of the Island). It is an uphill walk on slightly rugged paths, so we got a great workout as well!

                               The view of Brada Head

                                   Almost at the top

The views are beautiful!

The Final Chapter

With only a few days before we had to say goodbye to the Island, we headed to the most northern tip, called the Point of Ayre. It is very rustic, with only 2 lighthouses and miles of rocky beaches.  In all the years we have gone up there, we have never seen anyone swimming.

Heading back to the south, where our cottage was, we decided to take the scenic route, with many twists and lovely foliage!

Having spent the whole day outside, we treated ourselves to a dinner out at a very old Pub in the once capital of Castletown.  I was able to get my 'fix' of lamb shanks!

One last post to go, then heading home!

A day at the Wildlife Park & Horse Sanctuary

In keeping with the animal theme, I visited Curragh Wildlife Center to spend time with all the different types of cuties who lie there! Although I love all animals, my favourites there are the Lemurs and the Meercats!

I was also very lucky to catch a Red Panda having a snack.  They love to hide in trees, so not always available for the paparazzi!

These very entertaining guys were running loose all through the park.

Next visit was to the 'Rest Home for Retired Horses'.  Some of the horses were farm animals, but a great deal of them were horses used to pull the trams along the Promenade in the capital City of Douglas.

                                                             Wait a minute!
how did that Donkey slip into the horse story??

                                            (Hey, we live here too)

                                                    Another interloper!!!

The final chapter coming up!!  Time to go home!

The Manx Cat Sanctuary

As you all know, I am an animal lover. I am also a part of a fabulous group that recuses cats and find loving homes for them.  Given that, I always take time to to visit with Sue, who runs the The Manx Cat Sanctuary.  It is always so heart warming to see these abandoned and mistreated cats live a pampered life with plenty of food, comfy beds and tons of love.  Sue opens her doors to visitors twice a week and there is never a shortage of loving hands ready to stroke and cuddle them.  She even sells treats so they get an have an extra special day during 'open house'

Meet some of the residents.....Note that the ones without tails are Manx Cats!

After a day with the kitties, I headed home for a great dinner that started with a refreshing Caprese Salad
