Isle of Man - Good-bye, England - Hello

It was with a heavy heart that we bid adieu to the Isle of Man for another year.
Skies were clear as we flew east towards Bristol, to meet up with my lovely aunt Shirley.

To me, everything in England is so quaint, including my aunt's 500 year old house in Somerset.  With a thatched roof and traditional English garden, it is a charmer.

The front garden even has a lovely rosehip bush; rosehip cordial anyone?

We enjoyed a tasty supper of braised beef and crispy jacket potatoes with broad beans, finishing off with rice pudding and damson plum compote.  The rest of the evening was spent chatting away the hours.

Tomorrow; an antique car show boasting over 1,000 entries.

  1. Phase two of the journey begins - looking forward to more pictures from England. Another car show you say, must be the season over there.

  2. It is the largest car show in the area. Tons of pictures to follow.

  3. Can't wait to see the next page. I have loved reading of all your doings, and as ever you have brought prefect weather with you.

  4. Thanks for the most recent offerings Barb - A veritable trip down memory lane as Shirley knows. The food in England has improved by leaps and bounds for I still recall 5 shilling meals comprising one meat and two veg plus bake-well tart and custard but that surely dates me !
    Big hugs - Dad
