Minehead, Somerset

Our next adventure took us to Bishops Lydeard where we caught a vintage steam train to Minehead.

The coaches are the original ones, with a few minor upgrades.

Minehead was quite the resort in 'olden' times.

We stayed in town long enough to have lunch,

then headed back on the afternoon train.

Fish pie....yummy!

Once back at my Aunt's house.....

.....we went for a walk and came across this lovely beast......I didn't really want to disturb him as he was enjoying his dinner!

 A different train adventure tomorrow!

Wanna see the Choo Choo??

After our visit to the Mill in Bishops Lydeard, we headed for the train station.

They are still operating a steam train to "Minehead" and back.

The station was such a pretty place

Continuing along the station platform, I spied this old ad.....

can't imagine it would fly today!!

A more gentile time - 'ladies only'

We lucked out by being there for the arrival of train

Inside the station, the museum housed a restored sleeping car. 

 I couldn't resist a peek inside

 Just in case there was a fire, they were all ready

The boys were treated to a first hand view of how the track switching happened!
